Passionate Fly Fisher

My name is Ole Gravrok and I am passionate about fly fishing. Every summer I go on trips in Northern Norway in the areas of ​​Narvik, Harstad & Kiruna in search of trout. In addition, I fish in Denmark both on the river and by the coast. I love everything about it, but I catch more fish than I can fit in my freezer.

Cold Smoking Fish

So, a few years ago I decided to build a smoke oven. I knew that smoking your fish was a great way of conserving and adding taste to your fish. Before I got to building, I read about a guy who made these smoke tubes. He claimed it was an easier way to smoke your fish. It sounded too good to be true, but I gave it a try.

A Surefire Method

I ordered a batch, and sure enough, I was able to smoke 5kg of fish in 3 hours. I couldn’t believe it. During the next year I smoked 50kg of trout, both at home and on my trips. When I wanted to reorder, I sadly learned that the inventor had passed away. And so, I had to learn how to make the smoke tubes myself. Years later, Smokepins came to be.
